Happy Wheels has been released just as the tragic and blasphemous demise of Flash is imminent. That was a close call. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We hope the anxiety over losing Happy Wheels hasn’t kept you awake at night. If you weren’t aware that the game was in development, here’s some good news for you. As this is the first public release, please be patient as we work to fix any remaining bugs.
While I still prefer Flash, what I appreciate about this new version is its excellent performance on mobile devices. Currently, there are no on-screen touch controls in this release, but these will be added in the next update. Thank you for your understanding. If you’re eager to try it on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard works very well.
Although I previously stated that the game would run at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may run slower at that frame rate. Fortunately, a setting is available that allows you to adjust this, and I may host a dedicated 60 Hz version on a separate page for users with high-powered CPUs.
The rest of Happy Wheels JS aims to faithfully replicate the original in both design and gameplay. The user database, levels, and replays have remained unchanged since the initial release. The only thing that’s gone is the impending doom of the universe’s end.
